Bring to boil milk, egg yolks and sugar. Add lemon jello; stir. Cool until it begins to set. Then add pineapple, cream and cherries.

Break cake into chunks. Put half of cake chunks into large cake pan. Spread half of custard mixture over this. Add another layer of cake chunks and remaining custard. Sprinkle chopped nuts on top. Chill 12 to 24 hours.
