Chocolate Chip Cake

  1. Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla. Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Stir ¼ of the dry ingredients into the cream mixture. Stir in the rest of the dry ingredients and chocolate alternately with the milk. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in two 8-9 inch layer pans at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
