Cream Puffs

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup sifted flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (more or less to taste)
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Melt butter in water. Add flour and salt all at once; stir virorously. Cook and stir until mixture forms a ball that does not separate. Remove from heat; cool slightly. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each until smooth. Drop by heaping tablespoons 3 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake until golden brown and puffy, about 30 minutes. Remove from oven; split. Cool on rack.

  2. For filling, beat the whipping cream to desired level of firmness. Beat in the powdered sugar, a little at a time, until it is as sweet as you would like. Fill cream puff shells and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
