Drop noodles into 4 cups rapidly boiling water and cook 10 minutes. Melt butter in saucepan and melt in flour. Add milk and cook with constant stirring until thickened. If ham is quite salty, no additional salt is required. Add pepper and combine with drained noodles and ham. Turn into buttered 7½ inch casserole. Top with grated cheese and bake in a 325 degree oven for 30 minutes.
