Combine brown sugar, butter and salt in heavy saucepan. Bring to boiling; reduce heat and cook until small amount of mixture forms a soft ball when dropped in a cup of cold water, or indicates 240 degrees on candy thermometer. Remove from heat and cool 10 minutes. Stir in pecans, vanilla and evaporated milk. Beat until mixture thickens. Drop by tablespoons onto foil or lightly greased cookie sheet.
