Ingredients

2 cup flour
4 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp sugar
¹⁄₂ tsp salt
4 tbsp shortening
³⁄₄ cup milk

Instructions

Heat oven to 425 degrees.
In medium bowl, mix ingredients until a soft dough forms.
On ungreased cookie sheet, drop dough by 6 spoonsful.
Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.

Note

For strawberry shortcake, split and fill warm shortcakes with 4 cups sliced strawberries mixed with ¼ cup sugar and whipped cream.
