  1. Combine ingredients except vanilla and nuts and boil slowly, stirring constantly, until the sugar dissolves. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until a few drops form a hard ball in cold water. Add vanilla and nuts. Put in a greased baking sheet and cut when cool.
