White Cake

Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cup cake flour
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup sweet milk
  • 4 tsp double-acting baking powder
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Salt
  • 1/2 cup shortening, room temperature

    Prepare 9 x 13 inch pan. Sift flour, baking powder, a pinch of salt and sugar together. Add ¾ c. of the milk. Add the shortening. Mix and stir 2 minutes. Add egg whites (not beaten) and vanilla along with the rest of the milk and beat 2 minutes more. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes.
